Interactive Voice Design

· Ronan McGovern

You can now design a virtual assistant by talking to it and adjust how it speaks, what it says, and its character in real time.

In this video demo, I show how to create a virtual assistant for teaching yoga, for coaching basketball, and for a receptionist at a funeral parlor.

Watch the portrait version on X.

You can play around, get the right emotion, the right intonation. For the yoga teacher, I ask it to speak calmly. For the basketball coach, I ask for a halftime pep talk when the team is 10 points down. For the receptionist, I say: “Don’t go over the top. Don’t tell me you’re sorry for my loss. Just be courteous and helpful.”

The way this works is simply via control of two different prompts. The first is delivery. That affects the delivery of the voice. The second is the set of instructions, which would be tailored to what your specific use case is.

When you’re done, you can save the design, you can publish it, and you can use it in the playground if you want to test it out for yourself. You can use it through our SDK or the API.
